HI THERE!
I’M EMILY ZOBEL!
ABOUT ME
My Background
I completed my undergraduate education in Theatre Arts at San Diego State University and discovered my passion for teaching during a study abroad trip to China in 2014. During my time in China, I experienced what it feels like to see a child's self-esteem skyrocket through education for the first time. After that experience, I began seeking opportunities to teach in as many different capacities as possible. While working towards my teaching credential at San Diego State University, I worked for the SDSU Literacy Center and for the SeaWorld San Diego Education Department. These experiences have allowed me to work with students with a variety of needs and backgrounds, and my priority as a teacher is to be of service to my community!
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
First and foremost, I am a firm believer in teaching the whole child through social emotional education. If I aim to prepare my students to be successful throughout their academic and professional lives, I must provide them with the tools to manage their emotions, maintain relationships, and take responsibility for their own decisions. I also believe in establishing trusting relationships with students so that I can tailor my teaching practices based on what they need both academically and emotionally.
Furthermore, I believe strongly in exploratory teaching practices. All students deserve the opportunity to investigate the world and make their own discoveries based on memorable learning experiences. As a teacher, it is my goal to facilitate engaging lessons that spark both intertest and curiosity.
“Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.”
